Work In Progress

Mother's guilt (from working) comes and goes. Frist of all, let me say that I believe I'm in the right place, doing the right thing. (ie: working 4 days a week AND being a mom at the same time!) There are def. days when I miss Mr. Wy and I wonder if he's doing ok without me. :) I mean, he has great care, but does he miss his mama? Is he happy?
Yesterday God surprised me with a little treat. I had to walk from the Capitol to Union Station to pick up food for Chaplain Black's Bible study. As I was leaving the Capitol I 'just happened' to run into Mr. Wy with his nanny and little friend. He was so happy. Happy to see me. But happy to be with his friends. I left feeling so grateful for incredible care. Last year at this time I stressed and stressed to think about his care, but God took care of it all.
I'm def still a work in progress.

I Will Survive

The lyrics to "I Will Survive" is the mantra right now in my head. After my husband and nanny recovered from being sick, I got sick. It was a beautiful day on Saturday when I started to feel sick to my stomach. Tim was cooking lamb with a friend for a Passover Seder when I told him I didn't feel well. It hit me suddenly and I was out the entire weekend. Currently 2 of our friends are fighting it. On a lighter note, I think I've lost all my pregnancy weight now. :)
Mr. Wy also got a terrible rash. I noticed it on the way home on Friday. He broke out from his amoxicillin meds. Poor guy.
We are finally out of survival mode, I think. Just in time for Tim's parents to come for a visit on Wednesday night.
I haven't picked up my camera in what feels like weeks.
We had a baby and sickness has entered our home. Before this episode, I don't think I've thrown up in maybe 15 years.
So I will survive is my mantra. We missed Easter and my husband's birthday. And I think we need to make up for that. Maybe next week?!...if we are all healthy.

Signs of Spring

Thankfully while everyone was healthy on Monday (my day off from work) my dad helped me get a outdoor furniture set from Costco. We went back and forth about whether or not we needed to rent a truck. I told my dad we HAD to get one. He told me we could manage to get the set back with the old Volvo and his Outback. I let him have his way.
Dad's always right, right?! Well this time he was. We got 2 chairs, a couch, table, and 2 ottomans back to my house with 2 cars. We looked a little strange, but it was worth it.
Here we are this week. Sick and all. (notice the lysol wipes on the table?!)
This was def. the week to enjoy the furniture and screened in deck. I was so thankful to sit out here to relax and take naps while Wy was napping. I also enjoyed looking outside to see the beautiful flowers/plants in our yard. God spoke to me through them--and gave me a grateful heart. They are signs of spring. Things are looking up around here.
Welcome spring! I'm so glad you're here.

Out of Commission

This was Wy last week. He was out of commission. I didn't feel hot over the weekend and still have a terrible cold. Mom called yesterday (she was just here for 2 days) with a cold and a temp. Tim got off the Metro last night and "felt sick". His temp was 100 degrees. And this morning our nanny emailed. She has the stomach bug. I'm not joking.
To top it off, this is the first time Tim has been sick since I've known him--and it's his birthday today. Poor guy. Is this what happens when you start having kids?!
We obviously need prayer :)

Tim's Birthday, Long Week

Oh my goodness, last week was the LONGEST week ever. Mr. Wy was sick- with a 102.7 degree temp...and this mom was TIRED. My husband had a couple long nights at work and my son was extra needy. (this was the first time he was really sick) Being the first time mom that I am, instead of growing anxious as the week went on, I decided to leave work and bring Mr. Wy to the greatest pediatrician in the DC area; Dr. Cliff. Lovely.
Besides Wy not feeling well and crying ALL week long, I had planned a surprise Birthday brunch for my husband. Thankfully my mom pulled some major weight and made lots of muffins. I made my favorite breakfast casserole, alongside fruit, yogurt, bacon, and sausage with mimosas.
Currently Wy is on the mend, but this mother caught his cold and sore throat. No lie.
Oh yes, this is the most creative I've ever been...ha.
Even though it was a long hard week, I'm grateful for another year of life for my husband who I waited many many years to meet, and for the child I prayed and asked God to give me--and for the many friends and family who we can celebrate with... Happy Birthday Tim!

Playing Footsie

This is how I found Mr. Wy last week when I went to pick him up after work. He was playing footsie with the girl he stays with on Tuesdays-Fridays. It was too too cute. And it made me laugh- he has such a wonderful home to stay in while I'm at work- and his nanny is incredible- and he is excited to see his girlfriend (ha) every day. It makes me feel oh so much better about working. God's provision is amazing. He has been so good to me.

Family Time

At this fun place...
I can't tell you how much I love my parent's home. It's a wonderful place to spend time with family, away from the big city and surrounded by God's beautiful creation.

Spring Days, Founding Farmers, and Shut Downs

Are we going to be working next week or not? Will the government be shut down? It's a very interesting time to be working on Capitol Hill. I know my days are in God's hands- and next week I'll either be working, or staying home with Wy. I feel bad for those who really need to work- but deep down, of course I love the idea of having more time with my son. I'm a mother... and next week might give me a taste of what life would be like to be a stay at home mom. Interesting.
Thursday was a great day with the staff. We celebrated my birthday at Founding Farmers. I'd been told that I'd love it--and all my friends were correct. Fresh, really good food. And because I'm eating gluten free, they had plenty of options.
Decorations as you enter the restaurant.
Cucumber with cranberry and who knows what else. So light, not sweet and healthy.
My co-workers fried green tomatoes!
The end of the $2 popcorn that was incredible.
And as we got ready to drive back to the Capitol, I noticed that spring had come.
What a great birthday celebration. I couldn't have asked for more.
p.s. I might not see this entrance for a while.
